Your review piqued my curiosity and I find I may have to get this book. I am rabid for anything on the Tudor Dynasty and your book, of course, is on my list. Thanks for bringing to my attention that even these historical novels are quite intriguing. They are the foundational bricks that founded our beloved Tudors.

You ask, "How do we protect individual rights against the abuse of power?" The "people" must speak and act. As we can see in this moment, it is difficult to get large numbers of people to come together focused on the tyranny to challenge the self-appointed royalty in loud voices and large numbers. The legislators, many who have submitted to the royalty, must come to realize that their careers are at stake if their loyalty persists. The rule of law must be upheld in elections, the justice system, and across all governmental institutions. Freedom of speech for citizens and media must remain protected. Democracy is fraught with many challenges.
